About Graham

With 18+ years of tutoring experience, I teach Piano to school students, college students, and working professionals. I am passionate about helping learners develop their piano skills in a friendly, patient, and supportive environment. My aim is to make every lesson useful, enjoyable, and easy to understand.

My teaching philosophy is based on communication, flexibility, patience, understanding, and motivation. I believe every student learns differently, so I first understand their current piano level, musical interests, goals, learning style, strengths, and challenges. I then adjust my teaching approach to match their individual needs.

I teach piano fundamentals, posture, hand position, finger technique, hand coordination, scales, chords, rhythm, music theory, note reading, sight-reading, ear training, song learning, improvisation, and performance preparation. I use simple explanations, demonstrations, practical exercises, and real musical examples to make lessons engaging.

I encourage students to ask questions and openly communicate their difficulties. When a student struggles with a particular song, technique, or concept, I break it into smaller and easier steps. I believe mistakes are an important part of learning and can help students understand how to improve.

I also focus on practice habits and time management. I guide students in setting realistic goals, creating practice routines, working on difficult sections, and tracking their progress.

A notable achievement in my career is gaining 18+ years of experience teaching learners from different age groups and skill levels. This has helped me develop strong communication, adaptability, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.

My goal is to help students become confident, creative, disciplined, and independent piano players. Whether you want to learn piano for enjoyment, improve your technique, learn songs, or prepare for a performance, I provide personalized guidance and continuous encouragement.

My piano teaching methodology combines Adaptation to Learning Styles, Flexibility, Collaboration, and Positivity. I believe effective piano education should support the whole learner by developing technique, knowledge, creativity, confidence, and enjoyment.

I begin by understanding the student's piano experience, current ability, musical interests, learning style, and goals. I then create lessons that combine technical exercises, theory, practical playing, and suitable music.

Students develop posture, hand position, finger coordination, note reading, rhythm, scales, chords, sight-reading, ear training, and musical expression. I use demonstrations, visual guidance, listening, written exercises, repetition, and practical activities according to individual needs.

Flexibility allows me to adjust the lesson pace and difficulty based on progress. I encourage collaboration through song selection, goal setting, practice planning, and regular discussions.

I maintain a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new skills, and learning from mistakes. I provide supportive feedback and encourage consistent practice.

Along with piano, I can teach music theory, keyboard skills, rhythm, chords, sight-reading, ear training, basic composition, and music appreciation. My goal is to provide a complete learning experience that helps students become confident, independent, and expressive musicians.
