About Shasoty
Much of my job roles required me to assist teachers in lessons along with running study groups, tutoring 1:1. The role has exposed me to the challenges in working with young students, but also introduced me to the satisfaction gained from being able to teach. Not only this, as part of my role as a cover supervisor, I often take struggling students out of lessons and run small group/one to one sessions to help them catch up; I enjoy working closely with students that are struggling, as I am able to help them improve and gain confidence in themselves. Furthermore, I have been able to gain skills in working with a team along with taking on a leading role. Through assisting in many lessons, I have faced both positive and negative behaviours of students, which has allowed me to gain patience and handle difficult situations in a calm manner.

I am an MSc Cognitive neuroscience student at UCL, I have a degree in Psychology and have more than 3 years experience in working with students from KS3-KS5. A typical lesson with me consists of 3 steps. A starter test to assess initial knowledge, which is usually a past paper on the topic that will be covered in the lesson. Next is the main part of the session, which is going through the information and addressing any of the student's confusions/questions. Following this, the last 15 minutes is another test which is marked in front of the student to show what progress has been made and how to improve.
