About Eline

Hello! I am a MSc student in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at University College Cork for the academic year 2026-2027. Before that, I have studied Computer Science and I have developed my programming skills through many academic projects and internships. I am especially familiar with Python and R programming, although I also know a bit of other languages such as C++, Java and SQL. My career goal is to pursue a PhD in Bioinformatics!
In the meanwhile, I would love to share with you my knowledge of programming and all the incredible things you can do with it :)

About the lesson

My goal is *not* to make you learn a list of Python commands by heart, but to help you understand the underlying concepts and logic. I hope to help you develop the intuition and understanding that you need in order to then be able to develop on your own or learn any other object oriented programming language.

As a Bioinformatics student who first studied Computer Science, I have used Python for several years in many academic project, but also during industry internships. I would love to help you become confident with programming! We would first go through the different data types and program structures together and how to use them, and how to build on top of that.

I think this approach applies mainly to beginners in Python and programming in general, but I am happy to discuss your specific learning goals.
