About Matthew

My teaching methodology for piano is built on motivation, patience, compassion, creativity, and effective techniques. I believe in fostering a positive learning environment where each student feels inspired and supported. By understanding the unique needs and goals of my students, I tailor lessons to ensure they enjoy their musical journey while making steady progress. I focus on building a strong technical foundation through exercises that strengthen hand coordination, sight-reading, and rhythm. At the same time, I encourage creativity, allowing students to explore their musical ideas through improvisation and composition. Patience is key, as I guide students through challenges, ensuring they gain confidence and enjoy their progress at their own pace. For subjects related to music, such as theory and composition, I use a hands-on approach, connecting abstract concepts to real-life musical examples. This helps students understand the subject better and apply it to their playing. My goal is to make learning piano a fun and enriching experience, helping students reach their fullest potential, whether they're beginners or more advanced musicians.

About the lesson

With 4 years of tutoring experience, I have had the privilege of guiding 150-200 high school and college students in their musical journey, helping them unlock their full potential on the piano. My passion for education drives me to create a supportive and engaging learning environment, where each student feels motivated to improve and excel. I focus on personalized lessons in performance, theory, and composition, tailored to each student's unique needs and goals.

Throughout my career, I have helped students develop strong technical skills, cultivate musical expression, and build confidence in their playing. Whether preparing for exams, auditions, or simply refining their craft, my students have achieved significant milestones, including winning music competitions and earning scholarships to top music programs. Seeing my students grow and succeed is incredibly rewarding, and I am committed to continuing to inspire and nurture the next generation of musicians. My goal is to make music both fun and educational, empowering students to reach their highest musical aspirations.
