About Jacqui
From primary school to sixth form, English has consistently been a favourite subject of mine as I have always found it was one of the few subjects that hasn't restricted me and instead granted me my artistic freedom. As a new English student at Kings College London, I am proud to say that I have a greater appreciation and passion for the subject which I hope that I can project onto my tutees.
I understand how important it is to have a healthy relationship between the student and the teacher, where one can be honest about what they find difficult ensuring we correct and improve as many mistakes as possible. Therefore, my sessions will begin with getting to know the student's strengths and weaknesses in GCSE English and what they hope to achieve.
Specifically, my style of teaching will involve lots of discussion to share and build ideas essential for writing the most sophisticated essays possible. I also offer proof-reading where I can mark any GCSE English essays to ensure that structure, analysis, grammar, spelling, language and argument are all clear and correct. I will also help the student build better revision techniques in preparation for exams which will build their confidence and lessen anxiety.
As well as GCSE English sessions, I also offer support for KS2 English students and those preparing for their SATS helping with reading comprehension, spelling, punctuation, grammar and writing.
My teaching background includes 1:1 reading practice with KS3 students as well as 1:1 KS2 tuition in Ghana with a focus on grammar and phonics.
