About Amber
Hi, I'm Amber! I'm a National Board Certified Teacher with a Master's degree in Reading and over 15 years of experience teaching elementary students in grades 3–5. But more than my credentials, what drives me is a simple belief: kids learn best when they feel safe and valued.
I've spent my career building classrooms where students don't just get help with academics, but where they genuinely feel good about themselves as learners. Whether your child is struggling with reading, falling behind in a subject, or just needs someone who truly "gets" them, I meet every student exactly where they are.
What I specialize in:
Reading & Literacy — I'm a certified Reading Specialist, and this is my deepest passion. I work with struggling readers of all kinds, including kids who've tried other interventions without success. I use research-backed, differentiated strategies tailored to how your child's brain works.
Elementary Subjects (K–5) — From math and writing to science and social studies, I've taught it all and love making core subjects click in ways that are engaging and memorable.
Trauma-Informed Support — I'm trained in trauma-responsive practices and ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) awareness. I work especially well with children who have anxiety, have experienced stress or instability, or who tend to "act out" when they're overwhelmed. I understand that behavior communicates needs, and I create a calm, patient space where every child can do their best.

My approach:
Every session starts with relationship. I take time to understand how your child thinks, what motivates them, and where their confidence breaks down. From there, we build steadily, encouragingly, and always at a pace that feels right for them. Families are partners in this process too, and I love keeping parents in the loop so we're working together toward the same goals.
I've also mentored pre-service teachers, developed curriculum used statewide, and provided professional development for educators — so you can trust that my methods are grounded in the latest research and real-world experience.
