About Puyao
Hi! I’m Patti, a native Mandarin speaker and a recent graduate from Goldsmiths, University of London, where I studied Design.
I’ve been living and studying in London for several years, and I really enjoy meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds. This experience has made me especially interested in language, communication, and cultural exchange.
I have experience teaching Mandarin online and working as an Art Tutor with children aged 3–12. I enjoy creating a relaxed and friendly learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and most importantly, speaking Chinese.
I believe learning a language should be more than memorising vocabulary and grammar. I want my lessons to feel practical, interesting, and connected to real life. Whether you’re learning Mandarin for everyday conversations, travelling, work, your studies, or simply because you’re curious about Chinese language and culture, I’d love to help you!

My teaching methods
I believe learning Mandarin should be relaxed, practical, and enjoyable. I adapt my lessons to each student’s level, goals, and interests. Depending on the learner, I use conversations, pronunciation practice, vocabulary, everyday situations, and fun activities to help students build confidence and use Chinese naturally.
For younger learners, I like to make lessons more interactive through games, stories, creative activities, and visual materials, so they can learn while having fun.
Typical lesson length
Lessons are usually 50–60 minutes, but I’m happy to adjust the length depending on the student’s age, level, and learning goals.
My experience and qualifications
I am a native Mandarin speaker and a recent Goldsmiths, University of London graduate. I have previous experience teaching Mandarin online, as well as working as an Art Tutor with children aged 3–12. These experiences have helped me develop a patient, friendly, and adaptable teaching style.
