About Tina

I am an experienced Mandarin teacher. My job is making learning Chinese easy. I have been teaching mandarin for over 4 years. I have taught students aged from 3 months to adults. Now I am focus on children aged from 5, levels from beginner to AS, IB; Adults from Basic/ beginner to HSK 4 level.

I use lots of games, activities, props, songs to engage students and stimulate their minds, I give my students lots of praise when I see them progress. The kids always enjoy the games I have prepared in the mandarin lesson.The parents always tell me their kids singing songs at home in a language they don't recognize :).

Most of my adult students have been parents of children I have taught. Seeing their children have great fun in learning Mandarin, they realize this language actually is quite easy to learn and then decide to have lessons for themselves.

I also help young people study their GCSE and IB. It is great to see them get their confidence back after some tuition. It is great to help them find the way to learn.

I would really like to meet you and wish you the best for your Mandarin study. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you!

More about me:
I was awarded `Outstanding Trainee of 2012 Confucius Institute Chinese Teacher training`.

My aim is to give fun, effective and personally tailored mandarin lessons to my students.

**For children, We are learning while playing games, singing, drawing and doing different sorts of activities. We make simple Chinese food, taste it and say it. We make our unique decorations, sing songs and dance around. We trace & write Chinese characters, hang them around the house. We have lots of fun while we progress in our mandarin learning.

**For GCSE to AS/ IB students, We not only master the textbooks(listening, speaking, reading and writing), we also explore the beautiful eastern culture, study authentic Chinese stories and make our own stories. We practise past papers and make sure the preparation is done thoroughly and well. And we do lots of practice. Meanwhile, we always have fun.

**For adult students, I tailor my tutoring to their individual needs and requirements,
+ looking to impressing your Chinese girlfriend's family;
+ making Chinese friends;
+ building a rapport with your Chinese business partners;
+ having a holiday in China;
+ studying or working there,
We will find the best way for you to learn. I encourage my adult students communicate with the language they have learnt and help them build up their confidence. We do lots of role-play based on real life situations. My students learn to talk confidently and build up their vocabulary steadily on the way.Also I encourage them learn to recognize the characters, because you can't understand anything if you are in China (though you can ask).

Tips:
1. For travelling to China:
**************Learn numbers first!!**********
you should also learn travelling topics as well as daily small talks, which will helps you have a easier trip and make friends on your unforgeable journey.
2. For making friends or impressing someone, don't forget to learn a couple of Chinese songs, which will definitely earn their favour. We have Karaoke at every corner of China.
3. For exam participants, practising past papers is a short-cut to your success.
4. For Mums, Children before aged 13, they have an area in their brain which help them learn languages as mother tongue and they don't translate the language, while after 13, that area will close and it becomes a lot harder to learn foreign languages.
5. Learning languages never be effortless, however, it can be easy and enjoyable if you find the right way.

I am available on Monday to Thursday daytime and some evenings; but my available time is changing, please don`t hesitate to drop me a line if you are interested in learning Mandarin. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
