About Lawrence
Music entered my world at 6 years old, yet I did not find my true path until I stopped forcing traditional rigid structures. My conservatory training from The Juilliard School often clashed with my own intuitive way of processing rhythm and notation.
Today, I teach from my home studio in Nashville, supporting students ranging from 6 years old to adulthood. I spent 13 years refining a method that respects diverse neurological profiles, ensuring that ADHD, autism, or dyslexia become part of the musical conversation rather than hurdles to overcome. My approach balances conservatory discipline with gentle, poetic encouragement.
I find that the most beautiful sounds emerge when we stop fighting our own internal tempos. Working with this community is a profound privilege that brings me constant joy.

You will find our first meeting is focused entirely on how your unique brain decodes patterns on the page. We spend time discussing which sensory inputs make you feel most grounded while sitting at the keys.
I integrate sight playing, classical repertoire, and pedalling technique into a flexible framework that shifts based on your energy levels. Music theory and scales become tangible tools rather than abstract chores during our time together. We experiment with chord voicing and memorisation techniques to build a vocabulary that feels authentic to your specific perspective.
The 13 years I spent developing these adaptations mean we can move at a pace that actually feels sustainable. Finding the exact intersection of discipline and creative freedom is where the magic happens. I prioritize clarity in notation to ensure you feel empowered rather than overwhelmed. Seeing a student finally connect with a difficult piece through a modified strategy is the most rewarding part of this work.
