About Sia

As an undergraduate neuroscience major at Boston University, taking several math and science courses, I know how to approach each lesson professionally and organized. I believe in building a strong rapport with students by creating a safe space for them to ask questions and express their challenges. I also provide clear, concise explanations to help them grasp complex topics. My approach is always personalized to suit each student’s learning style, ensuring they feel supported and confident in their abilities. I am passionate about helping students grow and succeed. My teaching methods involve a lot of practice problems, no matter the subject. Practicing a topic will help students better understand where they need more help. A typical lesson plan would involve the students informing me about any topics they are struggling with and then proceeding with any practice material that helps them better understand the subject. Students are welcome to bring worksheets or homework problems they struggle with! It is best to work on some issues with the students to show them some strategies for approaching the problem and allow them to try some independently. We would then review the problems together. My patience and understanding with students set me apart as a tutor. I was once in their shoes, and as someone who used to be hesitant to ask for help, I was lucky to have some tutors who were patient and helped me no matter how many times I asked. I strive to make students comfortable with making mistakes and not knowing how to approach the problem because asking such questions will help the student become a better critical thinker. My lessons are more tailored for high school students taking math and science classes, specifically Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and regular/AP Biology.
