About Maryla
I have worked in the NHS for over 10 years and have extensive experience in all areas of maternity care and anaesthesiology, as well as teaching English as a foreign language both in the UK and abroad.
I speak five languages and understand the struggle to assimilate into a new culture and maternity system, so our classes will be rigorous but also empathetic.
I welcome questions and curiosity about the English language, UK culture, the organisational culture of the NHS and the maternity system. These are excellent starting points for our classes!

English fluency classes for clinicians starting their career in the UK maternity system, or wanting to improve their English whilst already working.
Classes range from beginner to advanced classes, accent work or simply chatting. Classes are between 1-2 hours with the first class consisting of an initial assessment and discussion of your needs.
We will use textbooks, scenarios and case-studies to ensure learning is based on real-life and you are ready for the workplace environment as soon as possible.
We focus on fluency in medical jargon, so that you can understand and collaborate with your colleagues as soon as you step into work. Your confidence in caring for and understanding your patients will improve as your ability to communicate, ensure informed consent and advocate for your patients grows rapidly.
My approach is professional, fun, tailored to your needs and flexible to your schedule. My aim is for you to become fluent in the language of obstetrics and midwifery, with a powerful vocabulary based around human-rights in medicine.
