About Kane
Hi I’m Kane Gillen-Mehmood, an online English Literature tutor specialising in AQA GCSE and Eduqas/WJEC A-Level support.
I achieved an A* in WJEC A-Level English Literature and have a strong passion for literature, essay writing, and helping students build confidence in their analytical skills. I understand that English Literature can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to structuring essays, analysing poetry, or preparing for exams, so I aim to make lessons clear, engaging, and supportive.
My specialist areas include Shakespeare, poetry analysis, dramatic texts, essay technique, and revision support. Texts I have studied include:
*Shakespeare’s Macbeth & The Tempest,
*Philip Larkin’s The Whitsun Weddings & Carol Ann Duffy’s Mean Time.
* John Keats’ poetry
* Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus and Enron by Lucy Prebble
*An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley
* AQA Power & Conflict Poetry Exam
Alongside literature, I also have experience in theatre and stage performance. This helps me bring dramatic texts and character interpretation to life in an engaging and accessible way. Lessons are delivered online via Zoom or Google Meet and are tailored to each student’s individual needs and confidence level.
