About Eve
My name's Eve, and I am BA Philosophy student with a plan to complete my education with a Philosophy PhD in Classical Philosophy or Philosophy of Mind. I am skilled at delivering lectures in a way that builds on ideas logically, step by step. I am patient, completely flexible, and student led. My expertise and lessons are a tool for you to use in whatever way suits you the best. This means that I will push you to take control of how we spend our time together, but I will also take full control myself if you work better that way. My safe space is the Philosophy classroom, and I am passionate about making my lessons this for my students, with everything from the content we study, the method we study it, the breaks we take, and the materials we use.

Flexible length, typically 1-2 hours. Unique combination of deep, degree-level understanding of the course and a recent high achievement in it myself. For A Level Philosophy students, any age. Typically will be teaching from Pre-Year 12 introductory sessions to Revision sessions for Year 13s about to sit their exam. I deliver lectures in a very process driven way - starting with familiar ground and building up ideas logically, step by step. I find my intuitive and concise teaching style strips back the cloudiness of concepts, and allows them to fully penetrate the student's imagination. The ideas don't just make sense - they stay in the mind forever. This, I believe, should be the core aim of all Philosophical teaching, writing, and research. To stand in front of an idea, understand it, and then show it to other people. I work with a range of learning styles, utilising diagrams, colours, and being as interactive and Socratic as the student needs. If they need to just listen to me, I will talk for the whole session, taking care to support it with clear slides, bringing along what we've covered so nothing gets forgotten. If they need me to challenge them and engage in on-the-spot debate, I will gently but firmly guide them through ideas this way instead. As a rule, all my students receive unlimited access to me for marking, feedback, answering questions, and quick support outside of lessons. Students also get to keep all materials I use. I believe this is essential to a student-teacher relationship, and so is included in my prices.
