About Keith

supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Hello and thank you for this opportunity to speak to you. My name is Keith Bell and I am an online English tutor with three years of mentoring children from the ages of six to 12, teenagers, young adults and adults in China, Japan, Taiwan and Russia. Also, I am a retired journalist with twenty-five years’ experience in print media and electronic media including having been new editor of a youth radio station. My interests are varied – from the English language to travel, foreign cultures, cuisine, pop culture (including movies, music and computer games) to geography, history, science and news and current affairs in the world.
A few things which may be of interest to you are that I have two beautiful children – a son and daughter, both of whom are English teachers and been born in the United Kingdom I have travelled extensively throughout many parts of Europe, including the Netherlands, France, Spain, German, Italy, Greece and Bulgaria. However, I am also a resident of the nation of South Africa and as a result I have travelled throughout the African continent, including Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Kenya and Nigeria.
During my time as a journalist, I have held various positions from copy editor to news editor of a youth radio station – where my duties included guiding young radio news readers on pronunciation and presentation of daily events – as well as being deputy editor of newspapers, where often my duties involved guiding journalists to improve their English. As editor of a football magazine, I also have a passion not only for football, but a whole range of sport from basketball to rugby, grand prix racing and more.
Now that I am retired my passions include reading, movies, travel and online teaching – whether it is with children, teenagers or adults. Having been an online teacher for three year I have learned many things with, perhaps, the most vital, being that classes are not about me and my interests, but rather about your passions, your interests and your goals in mastering the English language.
As a result, something that I can assure all students – whether they are young or more mature – is that you will have fun in class with me, I am always patient … and despite being a native English speaker, I make mistakes and from those mistakes I try to learn. I am also genuinely interested in learning from you … the student. And it is with this is mind that I always endeavor to tailor and adapt classes not only to your needs but also your interests. So, if you are interested in nature, food, fashion, finance, space travel or movies, music and the world of technology, perhaps I am the right teacher for you as I will always try to adapt classes to the things about which you are passionate.
If you are the parent of a young child, I can assure you that I am patient, fun and – being a parent myself – I am always aware of what is and what is not appropriate to learn. Should your child be afraid of spiders … please to not worry. I am too and we will avoid talking about them. If your son or daughter loves to draw pictures and sing songs …. I would love to see some of their pictures in class of sing a song to me as we have a little fun in class.
Finally, a little information about my qualifications. I hold a degree in journalism from Rhodes University in South Africa, I have a Teach English as a Foreign Language certificate and over the years I have also attended various courses on mentoring and guiding young people, motivating managers in business and courses on team building.
So finally … I thank you for this opportunity to talk to you. I thank you for taking the time to listen to me and I look forward to hopefully meeting you or your children. I am Keith Bell. Thank you for this opportunity and I wish you and your loved ones a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day.
