About Mitra

I am an Economics and Management undergraduate at the University of Oxford with over four years of private and group tutoring experience, helping my students achieve top grades in their GCSEs and the TSA.

I have over a year's experience of guiding multiple students through their personal statements, TSA entrance exam and interviews. I am willing to do weekly or twice-weekly lessons to help students prepare and feel more confident going into their admissions test in order to achieve their best.

About the lesson

Personal Statement Sessions (4 sessions recommended)

Session 1: Identifying what super-curriculars the student has done so far, creating a structure to link these together, highlighting additional super-curriculars for the student to pursue

Session 2: Creating a plan for the first draft

Session 3: Feedback on the first draft and create an action plan to improve it for the second draft

Session 4: Final feedback and proof-reading of the personal statement

Note: Personal statement sessions are designed to guide the student, lending structure and clarity to their thoughts, and so all work written will be their own

Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) Sessions (5 sessions per section recommended)

TSA Section 1 - Critical thinking and problem solving multiple choice

'Comprehensive' Option: These are structured lessons covering every recurring type of question that comes up in the TSA and building personalised strategies to tackle them. This will require a minimum of 5 sessions - additional ones to practice and build confidence are recommended.

'As-and-when' Option: These are one-off lessons. The student will complete a past paper beforehand and the lesson will be structured around going through the errors and learning how to approach similar questions through additional examples.

TSA Section 2 - Essay

These sessions are structured to teach students 'argumentative writing' and academic writing. This is done by looking at example responses, learning how to plan a well-structured essay in a time-pressured environment and writing a sophisticated response that is clear, concise and convincing.

Note: My E&M cohort was the last to sit Section 2 before it was removed for E&M applicants so I do have experience in this section and have tutored it to applicants before

Interviews (2 sessions for Economics applicants and 3 sessions for Economics and Management applicants recommended)

Session 1: Walking through interview techniques specific to Oxbridge and putting this into practice with a few example interview questions

Session 2: Mock interview with feedback to work on for the next session

Session 3: Final mock interview with feedback to refine the student's interview technique
