About Kate
I have recently returned to the UK after spending 6 years in Japan and Taiwan, where I was working as an interpreter, yoga retreat leader, and English teacher.
Japanese is my native language (along with English), and I studied Mandarin at Oxford university. I love both languages and the cultures they represent, and hope to share this love with others.

I have a clear communication style and personalise my lessons to accommodate the student's specific needs.
I prefer to focus on practical usage of the language, rather than rote memorisation. I work with pronunciation and useful conversational phrases to enhance real life language skills, and introduce ways of recognising and memorising the characters by explaining their origins, components, and cultural associations. It is a fascinating language with so much historical background which I would love to share with you!
