About Amitai

Hello! My name is Amitai and I study Mathematics and Philosophy at the University of Oxford.

I'm embarrassingly passionate about mathematics, having voluntarily given extension talks to my secondary school's Maths club, having spent many sleepless nights thinking about difficult problems, having had long arguments over whether mathematics is invented or discovered.

I'm very friendly and extroverted and very interested in learning as much as I can. I plan to pursue computational neuroscience as a career, studying how the brain processes information by modelling neural structures as mathematical ones.

About the lesson

I've got over five years of tuition experience (including clients with special educational needs such as autism, ADHD and dyscalculia) and would love to provide help for your child as they prepare for the busy start-of-school season.

If you're preparing for an exam, my lessons usually involve guiding my student through a past paper, seeing how they would naturally answer a question and giving suggestions and explanations when it's clear that they would benefit from it. If you're looking to improve your child's general mathematical knowledge, my lessons involve creative reformulations of mathematical ideas, allowing them to recontextualise and understand. My lessons usually last one to two hours - any less and my student will not learn, any more and my student will not focus.

I am patient, calm and articulate. I have experience working with children and those with SENs (special educational needs). I can provide tutoring for any pre-University level required, including 11+ exams, GCSEs, A-Levels. My absolute favourite thing to teach, however, is extension mathematics, helping young prodigies understand content well above their required level.

I attained A* grades in Maths and Further Maths at A-Level and currently study undergraduate Mathematics. I have participated in the UKMT Maths Challenge and achieved a Kangaroo grade (top 5%) six times.

Perfect! Enthusiastic and engaging, Amitai is an excellent Further Maths tutor. Whilst his expert knowledge of an extensive range of mathematical topics gives him the virtuosity to solve the most challenging Math equations, he has the patience to explain complicated concepts to make them easy to understand. My son has had several Maths lessons with Amitai, and each session has been helpful and insightful. With Amitai, my son is more confident of achieving the top grade he is aiming for in Further Maths.
