About Joe
I am an Oxford University Student with over 3 years experience of online tutoring over 100 students having taught 100s of hours of lessons. Having achieved 11 A* and an A at GCSE and 3A* and 2A's at A-level, I know how stressful exam's can be and how to ensure academic success at the highest level. I also know that exams are a process, one you have to get right, I help my students
Through my experience of exams and degrees, I have learnt the core skills examiners are looking for, as well as how to explain complex ideas and maximise learning for my students benefit.
I have been tutoring using online platforms for over 3 years, I have found it very rewarding to watch my students learn and grow intellectually as well as seeing the great improvements in their exam results. I have tutored in a variety of subjects, mainly working in the humanities from 11+ through to A-level. I have also tutored extensively in university and Oxbridge applications as well as common entrance. In total I have tutored around 50 students, I have always been able to build a good working relationship with my students, which is so crucial to a motivated and enjoyable learning experience. I have been excellently reviewed both for the drastically improved exam results of my students, as well as the improvements in their intellectual confidence and skills.
My teaching style focuses on identifying and adapting to each students academic needs (including SEN). With limited time to learn syllabuses and prepare for exams, it is critical that I first work out the gaps in a students knowledge and what areas of their exam technique need strengthening. To do this I often ask my students to go through the curriculum and rate their confidence as well as reviewing recent work. Once this has been done, I devise a programme of learning to target the areas that need the most improvement, consulting with students and parents as to where they feel they need the most help.
