About Esther

I have an ABRSM grade 8 distinction in singing, and I am a choral scholar at the University of Oxford's Queen's College.
I am also a choral scholar at the church in my area, and I have also sung in a variety of cathedrals (York, Worcester, Manchester, Derby), where I have sung many solos and duets.
While a member of the Hallé Children’s Choir, I sang the solo vocal part of Mimi in the BBC cartoon, ‘Mimi and the Mountain Dragon’, accompanied by the Hallé Choir and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
I have sung with the Hallé Youth Choir and the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, and I have played main parts in amateur musicals.

Extra musical achievements:
I have achieved ABRSM grade 7 piano and am working towards grade 8 piano.
I am experienced playing in piano competitions and performances.
I have achieved ABRSM grade 5 trombone.
I played the trombone in Foden’s Youth Brass Band and many other orchestras and bands.
I have also performed in the North West Brass Band Championships.

About the lesson

I am passionate about singing and making music, so I look forward to helping you develop your vocal skills!
I teach singing to people of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to ABRSM grade 8 students and beyond. I am a classically trained singer with additional experience with musical theatre and other genres, so I am well-equipped to aid students with all styles of singing.
I have completed the Latin A-level, so I am knowledgeable about Latin choral music, such as in a church choir setting. As a linguist who will begin a language degree in October, I have a working knowledge of languages such as Italian, Spanish, French, and German, and can easily aid students with pronunciation.
I aim to create an enjoyable lesson environment by encouraging students to unlock their full musical potential. My approach is very adaptable as I tailor each class to the individual student's abilities and musical interests. Whether a student would prefer to take a more structured approach to singing lessons focused on specific goals such as grades, or whether they would prefer more flexible and casual sessions to learn pieces from any genre, I am more than happy to help out!
I enjoy inspiring students' creativity with engaging lessons to nurture a love for singing. I can help students with all elements of singing grades, auditions, choral scholarships and choral pieces, including sight-singing, aural practice and music theory. I have extensive experience helping younger children in choirs with pieces and reading music.
I also teach piano lessons to students of all ages.
