About Maisyn
Hey there! I’m an Electrical Engineering student at Dalhousie, a competitive cross-country and track athlete, and someone who is genuinely passionate about all things STEM.
Navigating demanding engineering courses while competing at a high level has taught me everything I know about balance, time management, and mental resilience. I bring that same focused, encouraging, and balanced energy into my tutoring sessions. I know exactly what it feels like to face a daunting workload or a concept that just won't click, and I’m here to show students that with the right approach, any academic hurdle is beatable.
My teaching style is completely centered around the individual. For instance, my rewarding experience working with students like Maisyn has taught me how to adapt my pace on the fly, keep things engaging, and build true confidence. Whether your child is an elementary school student mastering the basics or a high schooler trying to conquer advanced math and physics, my goal is to make science and math accessible, stress-free, and maybe even a little bit fun. Let's team up and crush those academic goals together!

My Approach to Tutoring
Hey! I’m an Electrical Engineering student at Dalhousie, and if there's one thing engineering has taught me, it's that nobody learns math or science by just memorizing a bunch of formulas. My goal is to break down those intimidating, abstract concepts into simple, everyday steps. Whether I’m helping an elementary schooler build up their core confidence or helping a high school student survive advanced physics, I adapt my pace to whatever works best for them. I want my students to actually get the "why" behind what they're learning so they can tackle their homework on their own.
What a Lesson Looks Like
I like to keep our 60-minute sessions structured but completely stress-free:
The Warm-up (10 mins): We'll look over what we did last time, chat about any rough homework questions, and get our brains moving with some easy practice.
The Main Event (25 mins): We dive into the new topic. I like using visual tools and real-world examples to explain things rather than just reading out of a textbook.
Hands-on Practice (20 mins): This is where the student takes the wheel. They'll try out some problems while I hang back to offer pointers, tips, and instant feedback.
Wrap-up (5 mins): A quick recap of what we mastered today and a look ahead so they feel ready for their next class.
What Sets Me Apart
I think what makes me different is that I’m still right in the thick of it myself—I know exactly what it feels like to sit in a classroom and feel overwhelmed. Because of that, I bring a lot of patience, empathy, and real-world engineering context to the table.
I’m also really big on adapting to how different minds work. For instance, my experience working with students like Maisyn has taught me how to pivot my style on the fly, keeping things encouraging, engaging, and paced exactly right for the individual.
Who I Teach
I work with elementary school students who need a friendly boost with their basics, all the way up to high school students trying to ace advanced math, physics, and science. Whether your child is falling behind and needs to catch up, or trying to secure top grades for university applications, I'm here to give them the tools and confidence they need.

Hi Superprof Team,
I’m very happy to recommend my daughter, Maisyn, as a tutor on your platform. Yes, I’m a biased dad — but I’m also a dad who calls it exactly as I see it.
Maisyn is entering her fourth year of Electrical Engineering at Dalhousie University, where she’s also a varsity athlete. She has always balanced academics, athletics, and leadership with a level of empathy and engagement that makes her stand out.
She served as VP Branding for the Atlantic Engineering Competition, where she worked closely with teams, organizers, and students toward a common goal. She’s also been a student mentor, helping younger engineering students find their footing and confidence.
Her ability to guide and support others goes back even further. When she earned her black belt in Kempo karate, she naturally stepped into a mentorship role — helping younger students learn, grow, and believe in themselves. She carried that same spirit into her cross‑country and track teams, where she encouraged teammates and helped them push toward their next level.
Maisyn is engaging, empathetic, patient, and genuinely joyful when she’s helping someone understand something new. She builds relationships easily, listens well, and brings a calm, encouraging presence to every interaction.
Superprof is about quality and meaningful member relationships — and that’s exactly where she shines.
She will be a fantastic tutor.
Thank you, SteveMaisyn is an incredibly smart girl who has helped me on my math journey. She is so hardworking, patient, and extremely dedicated in all that she does. She breaks down complicated math concepts and explains them simply and slowly, which really helps my skills develop.
