About Isobel
I have just graduated from Durham University studying English Literature and Philosophy with First Class Honours, and am going on to study Theatre Directing at East 15 Acting School (University of Essex) this October. I have over a year of previous tutoring experience and love learning myself - I have always pushed myself within the education system and found it to be rewarding and exciting, and so I am eager to share this passion with other students. At the same time, I understand that school and exams can be a stressful time for every single student - if I can do anything to release the pressure a little, I will do it.

My main aim will always be to tailor my tutoring to the individual, as I am a strong believer that one size does NOT fit all. I will do my absolute best to get to know a student's learning style quickly and thoroughly, so that I can structure sessions around their needs. Within this, I will focus on not only helping the student gain an indepth and full understanding of the subject (because what's the point in just learning content like a tick box exercise?) but also looking at exam technique, essay structure and how a student can present their best self to the examiner.
Despite tailoring a session to the student, and preparing accordingly, my tutorials will be mostly structured around a task, which the student and I will work on and discuss throughout the session. For example, in English Literature, we might take an extract from a play at the beginning of the session and explore the different aspects of the text, ending with an example essay question about the extract and using what we have learnt to answer it effectively.
