Since design is often subjective, I approach tutoring the way I approach critiquing. Starting off constructive criticism positively, then addressing any improvements to be made; and suggesting new ways to approach challenges. As for teaching a new skill, design is something you learn visually, I teach by showing how to do things step-by-step and doing the same task with the student.
