Hi there!
I am currently on a placement year in London as a part of my Geography degree - thank you for taking the time to read this!

I am an avid pursuer of knowledge and hold a genuine passion for my tutoring subjects, which is why I find teaching so rewarding - it’s amazing being able to share/build that with tutees! I often find that they teach me a new perspective too. I absolutely love to read and am a serial-podcaster - I would always be happy to share a recommendation!

I am an empathetic individual who is highly aware of the fact that school methods aren’t always conducive to confidence building and that there may be other barriers in place to learning progression. I myself have had to adapt my learning strategies to master my ADHD, for one example. Whatever these may be, I want tutees to understand that I am completely on their team - it is a judgement free space :)

The key to exams is not always focusing on the exam itself, it’s about looking outward to how the content really exists in the world; how does Geography hold a place in current political conflict, the tectonic shifts beneath us, in interactions within our communities?How might a class Shakespeare reading act as a poignant tool for interpreting the nuance of human emotion in your own life, centuries later? This can all be grounded in structured practice and study, of course, but teaching for me really starts with that “wonder” factor to learning.

Having left school more recently, I feel that I have a solid grasp of the expectations placed upon senior school pupils today, as well as the relevant exam board specifications.
I have particular expertise in CIE Geography and Edexcel English.

I have always taken opportunities to mentor and tutor others throughout my education and would love to be able do so more consistently through my placement too!

About the lesson

I genuinely believe in the potential of every student to achieve academic success. But I also know that the school regimen doesn’t work for every student. This is why my core teaching approach starts with the student themselves. I aim to understand how they best process and retain material, so that I may deliver the best possible teaching methods to suit their needs and build their confidence. I carefully prepare varied lesson plans that maximise student participation, with less emphasis on lecturing from me and more opportunity for questions, hands-on skills practice and discussion.
