About Tom

When I was in high school, I was particularly bad in math and physics... And yet here I am in my third year of a physics degree with a year at Sorbonne University in Paris.
Often, students feel discouraged by bad grades or too much work and I put myself in the shoes of those who, like me, have had difficulties with this. I want to prove that it is possible to change and improve just by adapting the method of work. Indeed, the key to success sometimes does not lie in the quantity of work but rather in the way one goes about it. This is why my objective is to adapt myself as much as possible to the student and his needs in order to take into consideration all his shortcomings. My goal will be reached when these are 100% eliminated.

In my opinion, a teacher who knows how to adapt to each student in addition to listening to his or her difficulties is the solution for successful learning!

I am sharing with you a method that has helped more than a dozen of my former students to progress quickly and significantly:

1. Do not work to get a good grade or to hand in an assignment. Otherwise, you won't be motivated or at least you won't have the right source of motivation.
What is the right source of motivation in this case? The answer is simple: the desire to learn and understand. This is the key to success because you will feel great satisfaction when you understand the exercises you are doing. The only thing that will push you to work is yourself and not your teacher!

2. Make a quick course sheet that covers the main points but don't spend all your time doing that because the most useful thing is to :

3. Do some exercises. Reading and understanding the course is good but the most important thing is to practice, you will save a lot of time and energy.

4.A. If you really can't solve the exercise, look at the correction and try to understand it. Repeat until you succeed on your own, having understood what you have done.

4.B. If you have succeeded in several exercises without looking at the correction (or very few), read the course. You will have done 95% of the work by practicing, so all you have to do is read and understand the parts of the course that are not covered in the exercises.

Now it's time to talk about the working conditions you will have if you choose me to help you:

- I am someone who is above all attentive to the student. I listen to what the student has to say about his difficulties and shortcomings in order to work as efficiently as possible.

- I am committed to teaching in a playful way while adapting to the student's profile because I believe this is the best way to learn.

- The first session will mainly consist in targeting your difficulties and your strong points. We will discuss together the elements that are the most problematic for you and we will discuss the method of work that suits you best. The idea is to focus on the essentials in order to optimize learning.

- In the following sessions, we will cover different exercises at your pace and focus on the areas that are blocking you to ensure steady progress.

For each session with me, feel free to bring your test papers to analyze your mistakes, your course, book, and especially your energy!
