About Saptarshi
I’m an engineer and Penn State graduate with a Master’s in Informatics (Data Science), but my journey with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Stats, Comp Sci, started much earlier.
I completed my B.Tech in Engineering from NIT Durgapur. Before engineering, I trained at FIITJEE while preparing for highly competitive engineering entrance examinations and also participated in national-level competitive and Olympiad-style examinations. Those years gave me a strong foundation in Mathematics, Physics, and analytical problem solving, but more importantly, taught me how to approach a difficult problem when the solution isn’t immediately obvious.
My academic journey has also given me opportunities to work on research associated with institutions including IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and later pursue graduate-level research at Penn State.
Teaching, however, has remained one of the parts I enjoy most. At Penn State, I served as an Instructional Assistant for multiple undergraduate courses, conducting office hours, mentoring students, and helping them break down difficult concepts into something intuitive and manageable.
Having been both a competitive-exam student and a university instructor, I understand both sides of the classroom. I don’t believe Mathematics and Physics should become exercises in memorizing hundreds of formulas. I teach students to understand why something works, visualize the problem, identify the underlying concept, and then build the solution step by step.
For Grade 10–12 students, my goal is simple: build fundamentals strong enough that even an unfamiliar problem feels approachable.

I teach Mathematics, Physics, Stats, Chemistry, Comp Sci with one simple goal: understand the idea first, then solve the problem.
I focus on building strong fundamentals while showing students how concepts connect to real problems. Instead of memorizing formulas, we break down why a formula works, learn how to recognize the right approach, and then practice problems of increasing difficulty.
A typical class combines concept building, visual or real-world examples, guided problem solving, and finally independent challenges where I help students identify exactly where their reasoning can improve.
Having studied engineering and later Data Science, I particularly enjoy connecting mathematics and physics to things students can actually visualize, from motion and forces to probability, calculus, vectors, and everyday engineering problems.
My classes are ideal for high-school students who want to strengthen their fundamentals, improve problem-solving confidence, prepare for exams, or simply stop feeling like Mathematics and Physics are subjects that need to be memorized.
