About Reese

I have always enjoyed singing and performing, and my interest in all aspects of the human voice has continued to grow as my professional career has evolved. From an early age, I sang in choirs and performed in musical theatre productions. I loved to be on stage, and I loved learning how to use my own voice to make art.

I followed my passion to SUNY Fredonia where I pursued a bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance. Soon after beginning my degree, I took great interest in the science behind the art—the physiology of the voice and the acoustics of singing. I added a second degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences and deepened my understanding of the human voice, language, and communication. Throughout my undergraduate studies, my performance and academic workload complemented one another: science informed art and art informed scholarship.

After graduating with BM and BS degrees, I pursued a Master of Music in Voice Pedagogy at Shenandoah Conservatory. I developed a teaching toolset rooted in functional voice and science-informed pedagogy, and I continued to explore research avenues in voice science and acoustics. My training opened the doorway to a vast array of musical genres and vocal styles that can be approached from a functional standpoint.

As a performer, I have had professional engagements across a wide variety of genres including opera, oratorio, choral, musical theatre, church music, folk, rock, and country.

I currently hold professional engagements in all three areas of my professional voice interest—performance, pedagogy, and research.

No matter where you are on your vocal journey, I am here for you!

Whether you are prepping for auditions, seeking a teacher to take your voice to the next level, or trying to pick up a new skill, my model of voice lessons will support your goals.

I teach from a science-informed pedagogical background that stresses the importance of efficient and healthy vocal production. I aim to provide students with a vocal "toolkit" that they can use to meet their artistic goals. Lessons are student-centered and collaborative ,and progress is framed through student's self-defined goals. In our lessons, we will work together to set appropriate and manageable goals to best support your specific aspirations and vocal growth.

I maintain a busy performance schedule, myself. While I primarily perform in opera, musical theatre, choral, and church contexts, I have experience performing and teaching in a wide variety of styles and genres.
