About Pounamu
I'm a 46-year-old Maori female who lived in South Korea for 17 years playing at festivals, clubs, and bars at open mics, paid gigs, and representing the New Zealand Embassy on many occasions. Most guitar teachers teach skills for professional performance and concentrate on theory and technique. I'm a garage guitarist and will teach only the skills you need to know to get a sing-along going, whatever the song may be. You will also be able to change key if the song is too high or low, and strum in a few different styles depending on what you want.

This approach is practical and will teach beginners in 30min lessons how to work out the basic chords to most songs, how a chord chart will help you to play absolutely any song and how most songs are made up.
How to strum, tune the guitar, make the chords and maintain your instrument will also be included. Practice is necessary to save you time and money, but that's up to you. We will work at your pace.
I learned the guitar from my mother and friends and as a result can play any song I hear on the radio after a few minutes. I hope to pass this skill on.
