Teaching Method and Techniques
I use a learner-centered approach, tailoring lessons to each student’s unique strengths, challenges, and learning style. Drawing from my experience as a Registered Behavior Technician and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), I emphasize structured, evidence-based techniques that encourage active engagement, positive reinforcement, and skill mastery. I combine visual aids, hands-on activities, interactive exercises, and real-life examples to make concepts clear, memorable, and meaningful.
Typical Lesson Plan
Each session is carefully structured to balance learning and engagement:
Warm-Up / Check-In (5–10 mins): Review previous lessons and assess mood and readiness to learn.
Targeted Instruction (20–25 mins): Introduce or reinforce concepts using individualized strategies.
Guided Practice (15–20 mins): Work through exercises or problem-solving activities with support and feedback.
Independent Practice / Application (10–15 mins): Students apply skills independently while I provide guidance as needed.
Review and Reflection (5–10 mins): Summarize key takeaways, celebrate successes, and set goals for the next session.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
Specialized Experience: I bring professional expertise in supporting learners with ADHD, ASD, developmental delays, and behavioral challenges, ensuring every student receives individualized attention.
Evidence-Based Approach: Lessons are informed by ABA principles and data-driven progress tracking.
Holistic Focus: I don’t just teach academics; I support social, communication, and functional skills for overall growth.
Patience and Encouragement: I foster a safe, motivating environment where students feel confident to take risks and learn from mistakes.
Who the Lessons Are For
Students of all academic levels, from early learners to high school.
Learners needing support in core subjects (reading, writing, math) or specific skills development.
Children and teens with cognitive or developmental learning challenges, behavioral diagnoses, or who simply need extra guidance to reach their full potential.
My goal is to provide structured, supportive, and engaging lessons that empower each learner to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
My name is Gail Foster and Audrey Marshall worked as a therapist for my Autistic grandson for an entire year. We appreciated audrey's dedication and her professionalism during her employment. Audrey was reliable, professional and always dependable to her job. Ultimately Audrey assisted with my grandsons speech and helped him focus his attention which was really a challenge for our grandson. I recommend Audrey Marshall very highly to the superpower members.
Audrey was my son’s Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) technician for about a year. My son is autistic, nonverbal, and was diagnosed with global developmental delay.
What I appreciated the most about Audrey’s teaching methods is how flexible she was towards my son. She would tailor content, processes, or products to meet his needs. She frequently kept me updated and would give me feedback. Lastly, she was extremely patient with my child and would give him proper time to respond.
Audrey built rapport with my son by engaging in play that he already loves, such as building and knocking down blocks. She also engaged with him in sensory play, instead of imposing strict tasks immediately. Audrey was able to teach my son communication skills. She taught him how to greet others with a “hi” and taught him alternative communication, such as signing, to reduce communication frustration.I would recommend Ms. Audrey to a million people a million times, thank you for being so dedicated and caring with me and my child.
Audrey has been tutoring our special needs son and she is wonderful!
Audrey is very patient, kind and informative. She spends great amounts of time to formulate a specific set of goals and tutoring plan to ensure our son is gaining knowledge and feeling well supported. Thank you Audrey!View more recommendations

Why My Rate is $28/hr?
Extensive Professional Experience:
15+ years working in Special Education, Childcare, Teaching, Tutoring, Summer School Volunteer, Summer Math Camp Coordinator, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Experience spans Pre-K through adulthood, across low- to high-functioning learners, which is far beyond the typical 1–5 years many tutors have.
Former Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) providing ABA to verbal and nonverbal students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD Levels 1–3).
Versatility Across Age Groups & Learning Levels
Able to work with:
Pre-K & Early Intervention learners
Elementary to High School students
Young adults and adults with developmental disabilities
Capable of supporting low-functioning learners with intensive behavioral and communication needs, as well as high-functioning students working on grade-level mastery.
Specialized Skills & Training:
ABA training ensures structured, compassionate, and consistent instruction, which is crucial for meaningful progress.
Experience in tutoring, substitute teaching, child care, and summer programs adds a layer of practical, adaptable teaching skills not common in all tutors.
Ability to individualize instruction based on each learner’s unique needs, something that generic tutoring cannot offer.
National Rate Comparison:
According to tutoring and special education platforms, the average hourly rate for general tutors: $20–$25/hr
Tutors with 5–10 years of experience or specialization: $25–$35/hr
Highly experienced special education tutors / ABA-trained professionals: $30–$45/hr
My rate of $28/hr is competitive and slightly below the national average for ABA/special education specialists with similar experience.
Value for Students & Families:
My rate reflects personalized attention, safety, and academic progress, not just “time spent tutoring.”
Includes planning lessons, progress tracking, and flexibility to meet online, in-your-home, or public tutoring needs.
Families pay for expertise, trustworthiness, and proven results—not just the hourly session.
