I constantly motivate my students to participate in the learning process, by encouraging them to ask questions (there is never a wrong or stupid question!) Or by solving exercises during the lesson. After, I strongly emphasize the importance of personal study, in particular, on solving many exercises (practice makes the teacher, right?).
