About Anna

I am a highly experienced professional educator, able to support undergraduate and Master's-level students to excel in all areas of study. This includes essay writing, exam preparation and the development of final course dissertations and theses.

I hold a PhD in Sociology from the University of Glasgow, alongside a first-class BA (Goldsmiths College) and a distinction-level MA (University of Essex), where I won the 2016 David Lockwood Prize for the best Sociology dissertation in my graduating cohort. I also hold a Cambridge-certified postgraduate teaching qualification.

My specialist areas include feminist theory, class stratification, gender studies, digital labour and platform economies, post-Fordism, neoliberal state politics, organisational studies and qualitative and participatory research methods — so if your essay or dissertation touches on any of these topics, I can offer genuinely specialist guidance rather than general oversight.

I have taught undergraduate seminars and lectures and graded essays and dissertations at University level, giving me first-hand knowledge of what examiners and markers are actually looking for. I've also worked for several years as a freelance proofreader, copy editor and academic writer — so I can also help you strengthen the quality of your written work.

I have experience supporting both undergraduate Sociology students and A Level Sociology students through the AQA curriculum, including lesson delivery, assessment feedback, dissertation support, and exam preparation.

I've supported students to consistently strong essay, dissertation and exam results, and I'd be glad to help with yours.

About the lesson

I tailor every session to fit the needs of my individual students. That could be structuring an essay, developing a dissertation argument, strengthening critical reading, or preparing for an exam; my sessions are shaped entirely around your specific needs and goals rather than a fixed syllabus.

I also offer sessions focused on building and retaining subject knowledge in specific areas of your curriculum, so if you need to consolidate understanding of a particular topic or theory, we can work through that together at a pace that suits you.

I know that doing well academically depends as much on confidence as on knowledge, so my approach centres on setting achievable goals and offering consistent, genuine encouragement — both during lessons and in between them.

I aim to keep my teaching straightforward and jargon-free, and I make sociology feel relatable rather than abstract. I use contemporary, real-world examples and a mix of teaching materials and activities to bring the subject to life. Ultimately, my goal is to help you develop your sociological imagination — the ability to connect personal experience to wider social patterns — which will support you not just in a single assignment, but throughout your degree.
