Hi! My name is Adassa, and I’ve been an English tutor for a year. When I was studying for my A-Level and GCSE English exams, I often struggled to find my ‘voice’ and navigate the seemingly ambiguous mark schemes—it felt like an impossible challenge! But with the right guidance and support, I not only overcame these hurdles but also discovered my passion for the subject. Now, I want to pass that knowledge and enthusiasm on to you!

My teaching methodology focuses on developing critical thinking, analytical skills, and a strong command of written and spoken English. I tailor my lessons to each student's learning style, building upon their written voice and strengthening their areas of weakness. A typical lesson is around an hour long in which we review previous material, followed by an interactive discussion, and guided exercises, allowing space for any questions. I usually assign a piece of independent study for students to complete before the next session, reinforcing key concepts and encouraging continued practice. Exam practice is essential, I help students understand mark schemes, break down exam questions, and develop effective writing and examination strategies.
