About Danielle
As a lover of knowledge and learning, teaching has been a constant theme throughout my career and academic pursuits. After graduating with a First-Class degree in Biological and Chemical Sciences, I pursued a career in life sciences, becoming a lab scientist for one of Birmingham’s largest diagnostic companies specializing in blood diseases and cancers. While developing my career there, I became a mentor for new starters, which involved being deeply engaged in their onboarding and training plans. Additionally, my time there included revising, editing, and improving our working systems for various processes. This involved trial and error, as well as developing creative solutions.
After moving on, I became a senior scientist at a molecular diagnostics company, where I managed and trained a team of up to 50 people, including 10 direct reports. This role enhanced my leadership abilities and strengthened my teaching skills as I became a Subject Matter Expert, training and teaching new starters in the laboratory on various complex processes. I often took on the role of a personal mentor, helping my direct reports navigate career paths and progress toward roles suited to their interests and strengths.
In this tutoring role, I will draw on both my academic background and professional industry experience, which I believe will offer a comprehensive approach. Moreover, having parents who are both teachers and have worked with SEN learners, I’ve gained valuable insight into the challenges of teaching but, most importantly, the rewards and joy that come with it. My focus as a tutor will primarily be on the sciences—mainly Biology and Chemistry. Additionally, English has always been a passion of mine, so I will also be teaching this subject.

My teaching style will be tailored to the tutee's learning preferences—whether they are a visual or auditory learner, for example. My goal is to ensure that the sessions are interactive and provide a variety of learning materials to identify the best and most effective teaching method for each learner. One of my hobbies is singing in choirs and vocal harmony groups in my spare time, and I hope to incorporate this into my teaching style to enhance interactivity.
