About Kalei
I am a junior at Wheaton College and am passionate about teaching. My main goal in tutoring is to help students find a way to learn that works for them in the long run beyond mastering a certain concept. Beyond tutoring, I love the outdoors and an active lifestyle. I have three little dogs at home as well that I love to talk about.

My tutoring approach focuses on fostering critical thinking, active engagement, and individualized learning. I use targeted questioning, visual manipulatives, and scaffolded learning to help students grasp complex ideas and synthesize information effectively. A typical lesson begins with a discussion to activate prior knowledge, followed by close reading and analysis, critical thinking exercises, and application of ideas to broader contexts. I emphasize interactive discussions and writing as tools for deep comprehension. What sets me apart is my focus on synthesis, personalized guidance, and real-world connections. My lessons are designed for elementary - middle school students, particularly those looking to improve critical analysis, academic coherency, and integration of complex ideas.
