About Nevana

When I was younger, I struggled extensively with school and early years at uni with studying. I never had the help or support to allow me to do better. I later found out that I had ADHD this whole time which had made me realize why studying was such a struggle when I was younger. Ever since, I have done my own research on different studying and teaching styles and techniques and have also been involved informally in a few research projects on education and how we teach/best learn. When I teach, it gives me a sense of satisfaction to see an improvement with my students’ understanding and knowledge of a topic or concept. Even more so when they don’t hate studying for that particular topic anymore just because of the way it initially was being taught to them at school/uni. I love tutoring because I like seeing fewer students struggle the way I did when I was younger. It brings me great satisfaction knowing I can contribute to someone’s learning experience and have made it somewhat bearable and/or enjoyable.

About the lesson

First sessions usually include a general discussion on what your weaknesses and strengths are, how you best learn (and if you don’t know then we spend time discovering what the best teaching and learning methods are for you). We then go through what help you require with that particular subject. I get you to sit a test to see where your understanding and knowledge sits so I can formulate a plan on what we can do to improve you. We will then formulate a plan that works with you and go from there.
Depending on what you need help with, I will usually work with you but make sure I challenge you enough so you learn better.

I can do sessions for as little as 30 minutes in duration to 2+ hrs.

I have a bachelor’s in advanced science and am studying to be a paramedic so our coursework is science and patho heavy. I also used to tutor children, high school students too that either need additional help or had learning difficulties such as dyslexia, ADHD,Autism etc.
I am happy tutoring at any age and level. I will work around you.
