About Safina

I have 20+ years of experience Asian tailoring and more. I have taught many adults in the community and I am able to help them achieve the skills they require to complete a garment or create an image you have in mind.

About the lesson

Based on one class a week 1hr session; Get to know students and their needs, strengths and weaknesses, and their end goal. Start with body measurements, make a start on pattern making for a top. Complete pattern for top & Measurements and Pattern making for the bottoms and choosing fabric for cutting. Use pattern to cut fabric and choose neckline design and cutting the design to get ready to start sewing it on garment, small demonstration on how it’s done. Start front neckline and attempt back neckline. Start on the fitting of garment and try on, make adjustments where needed. Hem sleeves and attempt fitting of sleeve, hem the bottom and sides of garment. Cutting of bottoms and start on stitching. Try on fitting of bottom and attempt to finish hemming and adding elastic waistband. Demonstration on how to cut garment free hand without using a pattern. Test students on what they have learnt by letting them sew an outfit.

Having private lessons with safina has been great I found her thru a friend of mine as I was interested in sewing. I had the basic lessons of how to cut a dress for myself, her teaching was very easy to follow and I managed to learn to cut within a few weeks. My skills in sewing are growing thanks to the lessons I received. And on top of that she is really welcoming and very understanding person once I had to change my lesson with her quite last min but she was really understanding of my situation and rearranged it.
