About Brandon
Hi! my name is Brandon, and I'm a professional guitarist with over 15 years of experience in teaching pop, rock, blues, jazz, metal, and so much more. With nearly a decade of teaching experience through online platforms, I’ve refined a teaching approach that blends structure with flexibility. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and interactive, emphasizing constant feedback to ensure you are progressing.
Having a strong background in musical composition, I enjoy incorporating elements of ear training, sight-reading, and improvisation into my lessons to help students develop a well-rounded skill set. I also like to use resources such as music apps, practice journals, and guitar method books. Whether you're aiming to play professionally or just looking to learn guitar as a hobby, I'll help you realize your goals with personalized instruction based on your own learning styles and musical interests.
I have a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Loyola University New Orleans, where I honed my skills in writing music for film, television, and video games. I also attended the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA), where I studied jazz guitar.
As a performer, I’ve had the privilege of touring and performing recitals with the New Orleans Guitar Quartet. Our EP, 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦, includes a composition of mine by the same name that was selected as the winner of Austin Classical Guitar's composition competition in 2020. My most recent project is a YouTube channel that I launched called Guitar Tabs Mania, an educational channel where I post cover songs with on-screen guitar tablature (TABS) for you to follow along with! Aside from classical guitar, I have performed in numerous jazz ensembles at the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and French Quarter Festival, and I've also had brief stints with Mariachi, RnB, and Rock bands in the greater New Orleans area. I'm confident that my diverse range of musical experiences can help you with your guitar journey!
