Narine has been my violin teacher for 9 years.

I met her at a time where my passion for violin exceeded my abilities—I wanted to play things that were way beyond my technical capabilities at the time. Over the years, we have worked together to build up my skill in techniques and musicality to play pieces like Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso by Saint-Saëns and Malagueña by Sarasate.

Narine is firm but gentle, being able to guide both children and adults in ways that suit them. Her vast knowledge of different Etudes (think musical drills for your techniques) allows her to help you improve your abilities by giving etudes suitable for your skill level and the piece you are working towards.

She has also guided me in playing in ensembles, which has led me to be able to play in Nanyang Technological University’s Symphony Orchestra.

Narine had been my son's violin teacher since he reached Grade 6.

He was a student of the mainstream IB program but was determined to pursue further music study in university. Narine was the teacher that made it happen. Besides giving many great violin and music theory lessons, Narine was also a superb pianist who helped my son practice and record audition videos during the COVID era to apply for schools in Europe.

As a parent, I really appreciate her help. Her patience and professionalism encouraged and motivated my son to fulfill his dream.

If I were to use one word to describe her teaching style, I would say it’s “adaptability”. As a student who’s not doing violin exams, she teaches based off of my pace and adjusts accordingly. Moreover, she focuses on technique and precision, where my improvement from each lesson is evident. Overall, my experience with Ms. Nadine has been great and I highly recommend her as a teacher.
