About Zachary
Skilled woodwind player with 15 years of playing experience and 10 years of teaching experience. I teach online and in person in Windsor, Canada. Credentials: 1. A doctorate in bassoon performance from the University of Toronto 2. Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 9 Saxophone 3. Experience performing professionally both classical with orchestras (subbed with Canadian Opera Company) and jazz with big bands (McGill Jazz Orchestra) 4. Solo recitals at international conferences/festivals

My objective as a teacher is to empower well-rounded students by combining technique and artistry rooted in compassion and curiosity. This approach encourages students to become independent musicians by giving them the tools necessary to convey their own unique artistry at the highest level of musicianship possible. I achieve this by fostering self-discovery by establishing an interactive and communicative environment in lessons by guiding the students to discover the answers by posing questions to open up a dialogue in which I offer my suggestions and feedback based on their responses. This experience allows students to create their own path to success based on their goals and passions. Through this process, I aim to instill the skills and habits students need to be organized, positive, and thoughtful musicians.
Lesson length and frequency varies based on student's goals ranging from 30-60 minutes either weekly or biweekly.
I am available to teach any level from beginner to advanced at any age including the fundamentals/etudes, musicality, solo repertoire, chamber player, audition preparation, and reed making/adjustment.
