As a tutor, my approach is centered on individualized learning and real-world application. I aim to meet students where they are academically, emotionally, and personally, helping them build confidence while mastering the subject matter. I believe in interactive and collaborative instruction that encourages critical thinking, self-reflection, and curiosity. Whether I’m teaching Sociology, writing skills, U.S. History, or test preparation, I create a respectful, supportive learning environment that promotes both academic success and personal growth.

I use a combination of:

Socratic questioning to encourage deeper thinking

Scaffolded instruction to break complex topics into manageable steps

Visual aids and real-life analogies to enhance understanding

Formative assessments like exit tickets and informal quizzes to monitor progress

Culturally responsive pedagogy, integrating students’ lived experiences into learning

I also leverage technology such as LMS platforms (e.g., Blackboard, Google Classroom) and tools like Kahoot or Quizlet to make lessons engaging and interactive.

A Typical Lesson Plan Includes:
Warm-Up / Review – Quick check-in or prior knowledge review

Learning Objective – What we’ll cover and why it matters

Instruction – Explanation of new material, often using real-life examples or visual tools

Guided Practice – Activities we work through together

Independent Practice – You try it, I support as needed

Exit Ticket / Wrap-Up – Summary, reflection, and preview of what’s next

I also build in time for questions, discussions, and reinforcement of learning strategies like note-taking or outlining.
