My teaching method is to provide an overview of the main features and important elements of the material studied, which include historical and structural elements. After introducing students to key components of a literary work, I then focus on the language of the piece, emphasizing the ways in which critical literary devices are used in the work at hand. I then encourage students to consider the important themes, or main ideas, presented in the literature.
A typical lesson plan consists of analyzing a specific passage or element of a literary work, emphasizing knowledge of the way in which an author employs literary devices and thematic elements.
My unique approach to teaching combines a passion for literature with diligent application of critical inquiry.
