About Jennifer

I can’t make you a better writer in 5 easy steps because you’re not here to game a system. You’re here because you want to express yourself well in any context and for any role.

I'm Dr. Jennifer Taylor, a Ph.D. in Literature with 24+ years of teaching experience, a professional copywriting background, and a lifelong fascination with stories, language, and the way ideas shape the world around us.

In order to change your writing, you have to unpack your assumptions about writing–and about yourself.

I've taught university students, mentored researchers, developed writers, and helped learners find their own voice—whether they're sweating over a difficult essay, trying to get their college application essay just right, uncovering the meanings in literature, or simply trying to feel more confident in the classroom.

You’re not here for a proofreader, are you? You want someone who can move beyond grammar into a wider scope of possibilities. Together, we'll learn how to read deeply, think critically, write clearly, and communicate ideas that matter.

Why should you take lessons with me?

It’s uncommon to get one-on-one time with an English PhD—and I’ve worked in all areas of the discipline. I’ve done creative writing, literature and literary criticism, rhetoric, and research methods.

I bring all of these into a holistic approach that uncovers hidden strengths and helps you problem-solve. You’re not a “bad writer,” but you might be missing your target. Writing is not a mysterious art, it’s a skill we all have to practice.
