About Ed

Hi, I’m Ed — a warm and approachable tutor with a background in psychology, education, and mental health. I’m originally from the UK and currently living in New Zealand, offering flexible, high-quality online tutoring to students across the globe or more locally in NZ and Queenstown. I hold a BSc undergraduate degree in Psychology with Neuroscience, and postgraduate qualifications in cognitive behavioral therapy and Clinical Supervision. I’ve worked as a CBT therapist in the NHS and as a lecturer at the University of Exeter in the UK, training others to become clinical supervisors. I’ve also taught English overseas and supported young people with autism, mental health challenges, and learning difficulties. Whether you’re preparing for exams, writing an essay, or just want someone to explain tricky concepts in a way that makes sense, I’d love to help. I tailor sessions to your goals and learning style, and I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging space where questions are always welcome. Drop me a message and let’s chat about how I can support your learning.

I tailor each lesson to your individual learning style and goals, combining clear explanations with practical examples to make complex topics easier to understand. My teaching style is patient, flexible, and supportive, focusing on building your confidence as well as your knowledge. I'm a trained therapist and while these tutorials aren't therapy, I'll always aim to be supportive and led by you in your needs. Typical lessons last between 60 and 90 minutes, but I’m happy to adapt based on your needs. I use a mix of discussion, guided practice, and question-based learning to keep sessions engaging and interactive. I offer tutoring in: Psychology – High School to University (GCSE, A-Level, NCEA, Degree) I’m a psychology graduate (BSc) with over 6 years of experience as a CBT therapist and university lecturer. I’ve worked in NHS services, taught clinical supervision, and supported students at postgraduate level. I can help with theory, essay writing, and applying psychological ideas. Whether you're tackling your first A-Level or prepping for university exams, I’m here to help make complex ideas clearer and more engaging. Academic Writing & Study Skills I’ve marked university assignments at postgraduate level and trained students and staff in professional and academic writing. I can support you in planning essays, understanding marking criteria, referencing (APA), and improving structure and clarity. Great for undergraduates or students transitioning to university-level writing. Wellbeing & Resilience Coaching I’m a qualified CBT therapist with years of experience delivering workshops on managing stress, anxiety, low mood and motivation. I offer personalized coaching for teens, students, or adults looking to improve their wellbeing and build resilience — whether that’s managing studies, sleeping better, or staying calm under pressure. While these tutorials won't be therapy, I'll always aim to support you and be led by your needs. My lessons are suitable for high school students, university students, and adult learners looking for academic or wellbeing support.
