About Yiota
I’m a published author and writing tutor with a real passion for helping people express themselves through words. Over the past 20 years, I’ve taught writers of all ages and levels—guiding GCSE students through their first essays, supporting university students with coursework and dissertations, and working with adults who simply want to write with more confidence and creativity. I hold a PhD, and I’ve spent more than 10 years teaching as both a university lecturer and a secondary school tutor, so I understand the demands of academic writing at every stage. My own work has appeared in poetry collections, academic journals, and literary publications, and I’ve also edited academic journals, giving me an insider’s view of how strong writing is crafted, refined, and published. I love helping people discover their voice, develop their ideas, and bring clarity and confidence to their writing. Whether you’re working on creative pieces, essays, research projects, or a full dissertation, I’m here to support you with patience, insight, and enthusiasm. My goal is simple: to make writing feel rewarding—and even enjoyable—no matter where you’re starting from.

My teaching focuses on building confidence, clarifying ideas, and developing strong structure, style, and voice. I combine: - Targeted skill-building in clarity, structure, creativity, and argument - Live, collaborative feedback and editing - Breaking down complex tasks into clear, achievable steps - Personalised writing tasks shaped around your goals - Models and examples to illustrate effective writing - Supportive, encouraging coaching to help you grow as a writer Typical lesson length: Lessons are usually 60 minutes, with 90-minute sessions available for in-depth work on dissertations, research projects, or creative writing. Qualifications & experience: I hold a PhD and have over 10 years of experience as both a university lecturer and a secondary school tutor. I am a published author with 20+ years of tutoring experience, and my work spans published poetry, academic journals, literary publications, and editing for academic journals. I have extensive experience supporting learners in creative writing, academic writing, essay development, thesis planning, and dissertation supervision.
