About Lucet
I am a fun, patient and approachable teacher who enjoys helping children feel confident and comfortable with their learning. I believe children learn best when lessons are positive, engaging and encouraging, so I always try to create a relaxed environment where they feel happy to ask questions, make mistakes and have another go. I am calm, supportive and adaptable, and I take the time to explain things in different ways until they make sense. Building confidence is just as important to me as improving academic skills, and I want every child I work with to feel proud of the progress they make.

I am a qualified primary school teacher with QTS, a PGCE from Kingston University and have experience teaching across KS1 and KS2. I have over 15 years’ experience working in and alongside education, first as an education practitioner with extensive experience supporting schools and education initiatives through corporate social responsibility programmes and now as a qualified primary school teacher. I also work as a Pearson Examiner and Assessment Associate, including marking KS2 Mathematics assessments, which gives me a strong understanding of how children are assessed and how to prepare them effectively for formal assessments.
My tutoring approach is calm, structured and tailored to the individual child. I focus first on understanding where a child is confident and where there are gaps in knowledge, then build lessons around those specific needs. I believe children make the best progress when they feel comfortable, supported and able to make mistakes without feeling anxious or embarrassed.
I specialise in KS1 and KS2 English and Maths, including phonics, reading, spelling, grammar, writing, arithmetic, problem-solving, reasoning and SATs preparation. Lessons include a combination of clear teacher explanation, worked examples, guided practice, questioning and independent activities. I adapt the pace and level of challenge depending on the child so that lessons remain accessible while still encouraging progress and independence.
Assessment is an important part of my approach. I regularly use questioning, short tasks and assessment activities to identify misconceptions and gaps in understanding. I then use this information to adapt future lessons and provide targeted support. In my current classroom role, I regularly assess and track children’s progress and use assessment data to close gaps in learning and raise attainment.
I have extensive experience supporting children with a range of additional needs, including ASD, SpLD, SEMH, EAL, SEN Support and EHCPs. I understand that children learn in different ways, so I adapt explanations, resources, questioning and activities to suit each child.
A typical lesson lasts 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the age and needs of the child. For younger children, lessons include shorter, varied activities to maintain engagement, while older KS2 children can work through more extended tasks, reasoning questions and SATs-style activities.
My lessons are suitable for children from Reception to Year 6, including children who need extra support, those working towards age-related expectations, phonics screenings, children preparing for SATs, and children who would benefit from additional challenges.
My aim is not simply to help children complete homework or worksheets. I want them to understand what they are learning, develop confidence in their own ability and become more independent learners.
