About Alexander

I am a qualified teacher with 3 years of teaching experience. I have been graded Outstanding in lesson observations and have experience in creating KS3 and GCSE curriculum and assessments. I have extensive knowledge of the Geography curriculum and have a focused approach to exam skills. I absolutely love Geography and am passionate about inspiring young people to recognise and reach their true potential, especially in the Geographic field.

The best successes of my teaching experience include supporting students through their exams giving them 1:1 feedback on exam answers and sessions with small groups that have gone on to exceed their predictions. My first few years of teaching have confirmed my belief that long-term support is best - there is often no quick fix, so I work to really improve grades and develop skills and confidence over time.

I currently teach OCR B Geography, but have in the past taught an AQA curriculum. I am passionate about Geography and aim to not only achieve results but teach pupils the value of the subject.

About the lesson

Learning should be a personalized experience and this is often forgotten in the classroom with large class experiences.

Short 1-hour focussed sessions with an expert are the best way for KS3 and GCSE pupils to work on their weaknesses and identify their strengths. Using up-to-date examples to keep the lessons engaging and working at the pace of the pupil has shown the best results. These are the two core principles to my teaching philosophy and have proven to work with students I have tutored before.

I have a creative and flexible approach meaning I have a range of resources and lessons that are tailored to all abilities and all needs. I have worked closely with students achieving all grades and SEN students.

I believe all students have the ability to achieve higher grades than they often they believe they can achieve, many of my students have exceeded their predicted grades over the last 2 years. I am flexible in terms of going through elements of the curriculum that students think they need to revisit or teaching my own set of lessons that match the exam board that the students are studying. I am able to provide resources for the students to complete and have the ability to set independent tasks for the student to complete alongside the session. Let me know what suits you best!
