About Nick

I have a First Class degree in English from the University of Cambridge and a PGCE from King's College London, where I also recently completed a Masters in Shakespeare Studies. My results-focused tuition style is built around developing exam technique with practice and concise feedback.

I have extensive experience of securing outstanding results at GCSE and A Level. I am particularly passionate about teaching Shakespeare and poetry, but relish teaching all manner of texts and at most educational levels.

As an English teacher, I have over four years of successful experience in comprehensive London secondary schools (both mixed and single sex), where my focus was GCSE and A Level English (both Language and Literature; AQA and Edexcel). My work as an A Level examiner also helps me to demystify the process of taking exams and how they are marked for students.

As a tutor I have many hours of experience working with a range of students from those studying for their 7+ and 11+ entrance exams up to students working on their A Level coursework and university dissertations. I have worked for prestigious London tutoring firms, including Harrison Allen and De Silva Tutors, but this is definitely the best place to find me.

I am approachable, friendly and always build good relationships with my students. My greatest passion as a teacher and tutor is to help young people from all walks of life and backgrounds to achieve their full potential.

I am primarily an online tutor, where I find that digital tools such as shared whiteboards and texts provide the best learning experience. This means that I can support students from anywhere in the UK and around the world, but for those students in my local area I am more than happy to come to you.

I have been tutoring online now for many years using primarily Google Meet, Google Classroom and Zoom. This allows for quick access to my wide-ranging portfolio of learning resources (examples can be found below), and also exam-board past papers, mark schemes and commentaries.

Following our lessons, I always make digital copies of resources that we have used, lesson whiteboards or any extra material that we have covered available to students, parents and/or guardians. Through Google Classroom, students are also able to communicate particular priorities or areas of focus to me, or simply ask questions.
