About Philip

Coaching Profile Bio I am a resilience-driven life coach with a diverse and transformative journey that has shaped my ability to guide others through life’s challenges. Born and raised in a complex family environment, I faced significant personal loss at a young age, losing my mother at 13. Growing up with my brothers under the strain of a difficult family dynamic, I learned early on to adapt and persevere through adversity. In my late 20s, I took a bold step to restart my life in London, UK, where I met my second wife. Together, we embarked on a global journey, moving to Ireland to build a life and later to South Africa, where we started a family. My professional path led me to work in demanding, high-stakes environments across the African continent, navigating intense and unpredictable circumstances that tested my resolve and deepened my understanding of human resilience. After five years abroad, I returned to Ireland, transitioning into a career in facilities management while continuing to grow as a partner and parent. In 2022, life presented new challenges with my wife’s cancer diagnosis and my own period of deep self-reflection during a midlife transition. The following years brought further personal evolution, including additional personal relationship challenges. Through it all, I have faced profound trials—navigating high-risk situations, enduring personal losses, and rebuilding after setbacks. These experiences have forged my ability to connect with others on a deep level, offering empathy, insight, and practical strategies for overcoming obstacles. In 2025, I completed my coaching diploma through the ILI, an ICF-accredited training program, equipping me with the tools to empower others to find clarity, build resilience, and create meaningful change. As a coach, I draw on my global experiences, personal growth, and hard-earned wisdom to support clients in navigating life’s complexities with confidence and purpose.

About the lesson

Hybrid sessions, each 60 minutes long. I am happy to meet either online, or in person, depending on your geographical location. My life coaching process is a structured, collaborative approach to help you clarify goals, overcome obstacles, and achieve personal or professional growth. It’s not therapy or counseling, which often focus on healing past traumas, but a forward-looking partnership emphasizing actionable steps and self-discovery. Additional language: - Afrikaans

I have known Philip since I was a youngster. I met him and his brothers due to the fact that both our Dad’s, were Pharmacists and my Mom and his Mom became best friends.
Although my sister and myself were much younger than the boys, and we probably annoyed them so much, especially while they were playing pool!
Philip was always so kind to teach us how to play pool and how to swim!
We didn’t have a swimming pool at that time, so we were always so excited to go and visit Uncle Marinus and Aunty Elmarie.
Best memories of my life.
Very sadly, I will always remember the day that my Mom received a phone call from Philip’s Dad (Uncle Marinus), to tell us the heartbreaking news that Philip’s Mom and my Mom’s best friend (Aunty Elmarie) passed away during her sleep.
If I remember correctly, it was the morning of the first day “back to school”. It was an unexpected nightmare for all of us. I can’t even begin to process what went through my mind that morning, all I remember is my Mom having a break down because she lost her best friend.
Thinking back now as an adult, I can’t even begin to imagine what Philip and his family went through.
Philip and his family went through so many more challenging times after this, it’s not my place to discuss it. Philip has EMPATHY and SYMPATHY.
You will not find a better tutor than Philip.
He has been there, done it, managed it
I was privileged enough to meet up with Philip while he was visiting SA, if I’m not mistaken it has been 20 years since we have seen each other. It felt like it was just the other day, so many things happened in my life in between. I lost my Mom too, due to Septics after a golbladder removal, I lost my sister due to suicide in 2023, I then lost my husband due to a heart attack while doing a park run in 2024. Philip was there to help to cope with all of this
Sorry for the long essay, but all I want to say, is that Philip has changed my life and I know that he will be the perfect person to help you to accomplish your challenges, through thick and thin
