About Charlie

I have been teaching and working in the music industry for the past 8 years, as a qualified teacher, an individual tutor and a member of various musical projects. As Head of Music at Riverston School in Lee I have taught dozens of cohorts and taught from Entry Level foundation, through BTEC Level 2 to A Level. Many students under my tutelage have had SEND and so my teaching style has developed with a knack for differentiation.
I have also worked extensively in the wider music industry over the same period with various originals and covers projects, having played at an extensive array of venues across London including most recently Ronnie Scott's.
I have returned to private tuition after stepping down as Department Lead in order to focus on individuals, a focus I had prior to assuming that position. I am enjoying and look forward to guiding future students to their goals together.

About the lesson

Having taught in schools for the last 7 years as a qualified teacher I have a wealth of experience managing the short, medium and long-term progress of my students. Lessons are student-driven, so whether your focus is on learning music theory, working towards national grades or just being able to play songs you enjoy, we will be able to work towards our goals with a clear progression. My experience as a working musician also informs my teaching, since I believe it is also important that young students in particular are aware of the industry they may wish to become a part of in later life. Lessons can range from half an hour to an hour, and be in person or remote.
