About Charlie
I'm a qualified primary school teacher who has recently moved back to the North East, looking to support any students aged 4-11 who may need a bit of additional help, guidance or encouragement.
I trained as a primary school teacher back in 2012, and gained Qualified Teacher Status in 2013. I taught primary school for three years (first in London and then in Oxford) before leaving the classroom full-time to become a charity worker & supply teacher instead.
Over the years, I've worked with many children including those with special educational needs, English as an additional language, and gifted & talented children. I've tutored students on a 1 to 1 basis, particularly when they needed a boost in their phonics, reading, writing, or maths skills; and I'm especially good at making learning fun, interesting, relevant and easy to understand.
So, as the advert said, if you've ever wished that your child had their very own teacher - one who is knowledgeable & experienced; one who is friendly, patient and understanding; one who can inspire, motivate, encourage, challenge, and support them - then you're in the right place and I'd be glad to help in any way that I can! My teaching approach is very much a student-centred one, which has proven to be very successful in the past.
By working out what each learner is good at and where they need extra support, I can tailor plans, create resources, and design lessons which cater to their individual interests, unique learning styles and specific needs. This approach helps the student to make accelerated progress in the target areas, whilst complimenting their schoolwork in accordance with the national curriculum.
For me, the greatest reward is always seeing that lightbulb moment in a student's eyes when they learn something new or when they manage to crack something they couldn't do before - and I have lots of effective tools, tricks, tips, approaches and methods to help them do just that!
As one of my former students rightly said, "there's no such thing as I can't. Only I can't...yet."
