About Anthony

I am passionate about helping people. I have been a qualified social worker for 10 years and have worked for Local Authorities in Children and Families teams. However, before Social Work I worked in Health and Social Care settings either as a Care Assistant or Support Worker for which means i have been supporting vulnerable people for over 20 years.

I love Social Work. It is a career which brings together different professions. From understanding of social policy and it's implications for communities, to knowing concepts of self and identity. Social Workers are experts in relationships and behaviour change. This is what fascinates me. Successful social work is about building relationships which are based on mutual agreement about each other. There is something special about being able to step into a person's life and help them.

I am constantly reflecting. Whether that is reflecting on whether I am using the right models of practice, whether my communication has been the best it can be or reflecting on the relationship on wider societal issues and the impact it has on the people I am working with. At the root of my practice is the knowledge that the person I am working with, is the expert in their own life. This is something which i carry into my teaching as a Social Work tutor and Coach.

About the lesson

Deciding to train to be a Social Worker is a daunting process. We help vulnerable people achieve their potential and protect people from harm in society. Whether you are at college considering Social Work as a career, or already on one of the may different training routes into this profession, it can be difficult to understand the various models of practice alongside ethical dilemmas.

As an experienced Social Worker and tutor, I ensure that everything I do works towards the goals you set as a student. I can help you to understand your learning style and explore how this can support you through your journey into this wonderful profession.

A typical lesson will last between 45min and 90mins depending on what you need. I truly believe that you have the potential to achieve what you decide success is in your life. Therefore, the length of sessions will be led by what you feel you need.

If you are a qualified Social Worker and are looking for professional supervision about where you are in your career, I can meet with you for 90min sessions. These sessions will use a restorative approach within reflective discussions to help you explore any professional difficulties you may have. Perhaps you want to explore job opportunities, or want to think about transitioning to a new area of practice. My professional supervision can help you gain clarity on your purpose. Together we will develop an actionable plan to ensure you achieve success in your career.
